Wanting to push the idea of modification to its limits myself and Eliza Wallis chose IKEA furniture as out subject matter for this project. Side stepping the strict linear instructions and taking a more creative approach.

After some consideration we found the ultimate subject, the Frosta stool. This £9 classic was the perfect blank canvas,  consisting of just two birch plywood pieces and a handful of screws.

With a car load of stool components we started finding alternative uses for the kit. After a few days of sawing, drilling, and assembling, we found three alternative configurations of the product that enabled the Frosta to be more than just a stool.
